New Commercial Version of NASA's ASIST Offers NASA Users Training and Support

Technology Description

The Advanced Spacecraft Integration and System Testing Software (ASIST) ground system was first developed in the early 1990s to support the X-ray Timing Explorer (XTE) and Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) missions at GSFC. ASIST proved to be a key component in the integration and test ground system for all phases of satellite development, including flight hardware development, individual instrument integration and testing, and full observatory mission integration and testing.

ASIST’s highly successful user interface, extended functionality, and proven track record make it attractive for use in the aerospace industry.

In October 2003, DesignAmerica, a start-up company founded by original development team member Thomas Green, signed a license for ASIST.  The commercial version of ASIST was launched at the International Telemetry Conference in 2003 and will be showcased again this year at the 2004 Internal Telemetry Conference.

DesignAmerica is developing a training and support infrastructure for ASIST and has successfully trained researchers at NASA Langley to use ASIST software for NASA applications.
